Clopidogrel + Esomeprazole

Esomeprazole may reduce the antiplatelet effect of clopidogrel: clopidogrel must be activated in the liver through the same pathway (CYP2C19) that esomeprazole blocks.

There are alternatives. Some stomach protectors do not compete for that pathway (for example, pantoprazole). Do not change anything on your own: bring it to your doctor so you decide together.

When everything is seen together, sometimes one pill is one too many. We flag possible duplications and candidates to withdraw (deprescribing) so your doctor can weigh taking less, just as safely.
