Approved indications
- Prevention and treatment of magnesium deficiency states.
Contraindications
Absolute
- Hypersensitivity to magnesium salts or excipients.
- Severe renal impairment (creatinine clearance < 30 ml/min).
- Heart block or bradycardia.
Clinical warnings
- In patients with mild to moderate renal impairment, administration should be under medical supervision with monitoring of magnesium levels to prevent hypermagnesemia. — AEMPS
Drug interactions

Mechanism: Chelation in the gastrointestinal tract, decreasing antibiotic absorption.
Recommendation: Administer the antibiotic 2-3 hours before or after the magnesium supplement.

Recommendation: Separate administration of both drugs by at least 2 hours.
