  • Severe hepatic impairment, severe pre-existing blood disorder, previous pancreatitis from carbimazole/thiamazole, or hypersensitivity.

Nausea, headache, arthralgia, gastric discomfort, rash, and itching

Rare but serious

Agranulocytosis, pancytopenia, acute pancreatitis, and liver injury

Pregnancy and lactation

It may cause malformations. Treat maternal hyperthyroidism with the lowest effective dose and close monitoring; avoid block-and-replace therapy. Women of childbearing potential must use contraception. Breastfeeding requires dose assessment and infant thyroid monitoring.
